1968 Chevrolet Corvette
The 1968 Chevrolet Corvette came in two trims, the coupe and the convertible,
just like the previous. The convertible came in with its top under a hinged hard
cover. On the other hand, the coupe sported an all-new and unique two removable
roof panels, which later became the very first "T-tops." Both with an all-new
body, these Corvette trims still carried drivetrains similar to its predecessor.
Riding in a wheelbase that measures 98 inches, the 'Vettes carried a standard
V8 engine that generated 300 horsepower and was a small block of 327 that are
topped by a four-barrel carburator. A 327 small block engine that generated 350
horsepower and the 427 big blocks are included as optional engines.
This Corvette year edition came in sporting a dimension that includes a weight
of 2800 lbs and a class B performance. Its V8 overhead camshaft engine includes
specifications such as a 350 cc displacement, aluminum heads and hooker side pipes
exhaust. Its fuel system features a fuel tank with 19 gallons capacity and electric
fuel electric. Powerplant for the Corvette '68 trims features a manual transmission
with 4 gears and Hurst shifter. It has a steel ladder chassis with a coil spring
on the front suspension and leaf spring on the rear suspension. It also features
4 wheel disc brakes, power steering and aluminum wheels. Most of the '68 'Vettes
body construction are made of fiberglass and features 5-point restraints.
