1978 Chevrolet Corvette
The year 1978 marked the first quarter century of the existence of the Corvette
and this was the basic reason for the Corvette's having its signature buttresses
replaced by a wraparound rear window. This feature gave the Corvette an increased
luggage room though there's still problem loading that has to be worked along
the seats. Along with that, a "Silver Anniversary" edition model that featured
two-tone silver-on-top/charcoal-on-bottom paints and the limited edition Indy
Pace Car was launched. There were also new features offered for the '78 Corvettes,
these includes tweaked interior designs, new instruments, lockable glovebox and
relocated windshield wiper controls.

In this year, the Corvette's available engines were improved. The base L48 350
engine was upgraded to rate 185 horsepower and the L82 engine received new dual-snorkel
intake improving its horsepower output to 220. A standard 4-speed manual transmission
and an optional 3-speed automatic paired these engines. Features and equipments
for these Corvette trims includes an air conditioning, AM/FM radio, cruise control,
leather interior, performance tires, power brakes and power steering. There were
also power windows, radial tires, rear defogger, seatbelts, telescopic wheel and
tilt wheel
