2005 Chevrolet Corvette review
The 2005 Chevrolet Corvette will come out the market with a new reworked sheet
metal along with a new appearance and powerplant. This Corvette carried a 6.0
Liter V8 engine with a displacement of 364 cubic inches and generated 400 horsepower
at 6000 rpm and 400 lb-ft of torque at 4400 rpm. It has a drag coefficient of
0.28 a close-ratio six-speed manual gearbox that added to its aerodynamic performance.
It also has a sequentially fuel injected pushrod LS2 that reached a redline of
6500 rpm. Fuel economy data on this car includes a maximum 28-mpg on highway and
the minimum range is 23 mpg on both city and highway.
The '05 Corvette's engine is located aft of the front axle while transmission
sits in the car's rear. It has a dual exhaust system with four, chromed-tipped
tips culminates at the rear of the car. This year's transmission was improved
in terms of shift feel, clutch effort and short gearing. There was also the optional
four-speed transmission that comes guided by performance algorithm shift or PAS
software mapping. This PAS is specially designed to hold gears with maximum response
even on meandering roads.
This year, the Corvette comes available in two trims, the coupe that has a removable
roof panel and the convertible with a power-operated top. Along with these, Corvette
offers two settings, Touring or Sports, with its optional Magnetic Selective Ride
Control. It also has a magnetic variable assist steering, four-wheel vented disc
brakes with ABS and a run-flat tires that are standard features. In the interior,
the Corvette features keyless entry and ignition system similar to Cadillac XLR.
There were also optional features that include new head-up display that displays
direction from the DVD navigation and generates lateral acceleration data in special
track mode.
